Description:
Day ONE: We firstly travel through the heart of the Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park via Bunyeroo Gorge Scenic Drive, stopping to enjoy the famous view at the Razorback Lookout, then on to the spectacular Brachina Gorge Geological Trail to learn about the ancient geology on display (over 600 million years), and always finding time to observe the Yellow Footed Rock Wallaby,
We continue north on the Outback Highway to the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna where we indulge in a quality cuisine for lunch (with the option to sample a locally made beer! )
After lunch, relax and enjoy the scenery as we travel through the northern Flinders along the Copley Road to Arkaroola, through remote station country and passing through Nepabunna community, and crossing the Vulkathunha Gammon Ranges National Park. The late afternoon light truely shows this country at its best.
With abundance of wildlife in the area there is a good chance you could see Kangaroos, Euros (Wallaroos), Emus, Parrots and the graceful Wedge Tailed Eagle, and more… Arrive at Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, check in get settled and then dinner at the Native Pine Restaurant.
Day TWO: Today is dedicated to discovering Lake Eyre and the outback SA region with a Full day scenic flight
“Taking in the wild red granites, gorges and watercourses of the Ridge Top and Mawson Plateau, the flight will then take you up to the eastern side of Lake Eyre. It will give you a unique opportunity to see the orange red dunes of the Strzelecki and Tirari Deserts from the air, before tracking over Lake Eyre North’s Madigan Gulf Hunt Peninsula to Belt Bay, the lowest part in Australia. Stop at the iconic William Creek Hotel for lunch and continue onto the Painted Hills, returning via Lake Torrens and the Leigh Creek Coal Fields and Gammon Ranges”
Day THREE: Early breakfast before joining the exclusive, world famous, Arkaroola Ridge Top Tour, (Departs reception at 8.00am) travel the rocky roads in customised 4wd vehicles, through creeks, valleys & over the ridges of the Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, climaxing with an amazing view at “Sillers Lookout” and some lovely morning tea.
Return to the village for lunch and then return to the central Flinders express along the other track via Blinman, before making our way back to your drop off location. Arriving back approx 5.00 to 6.00pm
